Articles, essays and research reports must be sent to submission@musicandmeaning.net
If you want to review a book for us, please contact us first at info@musicandmeaning.net before sending us anything.
As opposed to the original format of JMM, the new blog-based issues will only feature articles in pdf-format. From JMM10 and onwards, we are making the entire formatting of a paper the full responsibility of the author(s). Should your material be accepted for publication, it will be your responsibility to ensure that the finished, (possibly) revised article is camera-ready.
When you submit material for JMM, you must
1) Send two versions: One as a Microsoft Word document (or compatible format) facilitating easy proofreading, and one as a pdf-document, including all figures and illustrations, and, if possible, any audio or video examples you may utilize. Should you have problems integrating audio and video in your pdf-document, we will be able to help you with this, if you send us the relevant files separately.
If you are submitting a paper for peer-review, please anonymize both versions of your document, such that the identities of yourself and your co-authors (if any) are not stated anywhere.
2) Adhere to the general style of JMM‘s articles. See a sample paper here: pdf-version Microsoft Word version
3) Write in English of a publishable quality. For non-native speakers of English, we require that submitted articles (whether for peer-review or intended for our essay or research report sections) have been proofread by a native speaker of English with familiarity of academic discourse. Except for material written by U.K. residents, we only accept texts that follow APA formatting.
4) Include a short abstract (approx. 1500 characters) for use in the blog post regarding your article. You must also include a short biographical note on the author(s), not exceeding 1000 characters per author. The former requirement does not apply to book reviews.
Papers submitted for peer-review will be evaluated by two anonymous referees either from our Editorial Board or from other researchers in our network.
